One of the best things about being a mom is all the fun times I get to have with my son. Xavier loves to learn and he is a very inquisitive person. So I decided we would do Science experiment to teach my son bout carbon dioxide for our craft time last night. And to add extra fun with Halloween just around the corner why not make it a ghost. π
This is super simple and fast. But lots of fun! Now I call that a TRIPLE WIN! I am willing to bet most of you even have all these ingredients in the house. So then it is a another win. Yes? If not it I’d all cheap and easy to get. So that is also a win!
Here is what you need:
– 1 balloon
– A sharpie marker (optional to draw face on balloon)
– 1 empty water bottle
– 1/2 a cup of vinegar
– 1 Tablespoon of baking soda.
– 1 funnel..now I didn’t have a funnel so I stretched the opening of the balloon and had him dump the baking soda in the balloon.
So what you do.
You take you water bottle and pour in 1/2 cup of vinegar.
Then you take your balloon. If you want now is the time to draw your face on your balloon aka your Ghost.
Next you Will place the funnel in the opening of the balloon. Then add the 1 tablespoon of baking soda inside the ballon.
Now you want to attach the balloon to the top of the water bottle..WITHOUT letting the baking soda fallout of the ballon into the bottle.
Once it is attached you lift your Ghost up so the baking soda falls inside and mixes with the vinegar forming the carbon dioxide.
And your Ghost comes to life and expands π
Here are some pictures I took while my Xman and I did this. I also have videos posted on my instagram you can check out!
